FULL BIO
Rubik is the electronic music project of Plamen Kozhuharov, a Bulgarian-born producer based in the UK. Making music since the late 1990s, he draws together dub techno, deep electronics and an enduring interest in sound design. His work centres on repetition and atmosphere: rhythms that unfold gradually, suspended textures and the space between sounds.
His catalogue includes releases on Cold Tear Records, kopoc, Electrolux Real MusiQ and Random Deep. Alongside his recorded work, Rubik has become a regular presence in Brighton’s experimental music community, with performances at Machine Learning at The Brunswick and appearances at CodeSouth.FM, Brighton [beep] and the Cowley Club.
On stage, the music remains open to change. Software, controllers, live mixing and effects form a compact performance system in which tracks and loops can be rebuilt in real time. Sounds are layered, interrupted and reshaped, allowing familiar material to take a different route with each performance. The focus is on the movement of the set as a whole: deep rhythmic structures, shifting detail and an atmosphere that develops over time.
Live.
Rubik performs an evolving live electronic set built around dub techno, deep rhythmic structures and real-time sound manipulation. Using software, MIDI controllers, live mixing and hands-on effects, tracks, loops and textures are reconstructed as the performance unfolds. This is a live act: arrangements remain fluid, transitions grow from the moment, and familiar sounds find new shapes in the room.
